Rock and Roll

This past week has been absolutely full of rock and roll stars. I have been out and about trying to catch as much of the CMJ festival as possible. My blogging skills are terrible but if I wasn’t out doing things then I wouldn’t have anything to say right?

Wednesday night Rediscover and We Are The Fury played at BB Kings in Times Square. My friends Dina and Josh came along to check out these bands I have been raving about. We had an absolute blast. Rediscover played some of their new songs that I have never heard. Carmen, Chassidy, Lindsay Lohan look-alike, Josh, Dina, and I were all in the front row shaking it (even though they didn’t play shake it.) By the time The Fury came on stage, we had lost our front row spot… so Josh and I roughed up the crowd a little to get our space back. The laim-o’s in the crowd wanted no part in a mosh pit which kind of egged us on to keep jumping around, rocking out, and bouncing off people. Spin mag even wrote about it:

*We Are the Fury took the same stage and played an arresting set wherein lead singer Jeremy Lublin struck his best Mick Jagger pose while channeling Ziggy Stardust. The Toledo, Ohio band borrowed the best rock guitar riffs and combined them with '70s-era synthesizer glam, inducing a small, pogoing mosh pit.

The show was 100% rock and roll and I ended up with a scratch on my elbow. The Fury has evolved into a style of music that sounds heavily influenced by T.Rex and Bowie. I love it and cannot wait for their new cd.










The rock does not stop there. On Saturday, I was fortunate enough to attend the premiere of Oasis’s recent documentary, Lord Don't Slow Me Down. It was filmed during their latest tour. Noel Gallagher made an appearance to discuss the film and also take questions from the audience. This not only means that I was able to see an hour and a half of beautifully filmed and edited footage of Oasis, but then sit directly in front of Noel and hear him talk about what he thought of the film. Noel Gallagher, who in my opinion is one of the greatest songwriters of all time, told us how he goes about writing a song, among many other topics discussed. I’m still in shock that I could hear this coming from him face to face. I’ll upload the videos eventually. It was amazing and I feel blessed that I had that opportunity.
